On Thursday, DNA tests confirmed that remains found in a wash were of missing college student Adrienne Salinas.

Now we're hearing from family members as police continue to search for clues into her death.

You can just imagine what Adrienne's father, Rick Salinas, is going through.  This was the news they never wanted to hear.

As the search continues, police say they still can't determine how Adrienne died.

Investigators were back out searching the wash where Adrienne's body was found Friday.  The search area has expanded to four miles.

"As can be imagined, it is very very difficult to accept what has happened," said Rick.  "It is just unbelievable."

Rick never gave up hope.  He left his job to search for his daughter.

"I just pray that whoever is responsible for this is found and dealt with," he said.  "If this person is not caught, it could happen to somebody else.  It could happen to some other innocent child."

Investigators don't know exactly where or when Adrienne was left at the wash, which starts in the Superstition Mountains and snakes its way into Apache Junction.  That area was hit by massive floods just a few weeks ago.

"Generally if we did get rain, it would flow downstream, but unfortunately, because of the way the flooding happens, the water was just so immense that it went in all different directions and that is why it is so important that we expand the search both north and south of the discovery of the body," said Constance Halomen of the Apache Junction Police Department.

Adrienne disappeared on June 15.  She was walking to catch a cab at a gas station near her Tempe apartment, but never made it.

Police have no suspects, no person of interest and at this point, they don't know how Adrienne died.  Tempe police say they can't rule anything out.

"There is a monster out there that is preying innocent children and he has got to be stopped," said Rick.

Because of the condition of the body and the fact that the medical examiner hasn't determined a cause of death, police can't officially classify this case as a homicide, but they are treating it as one.
